Question: Can I empty my vinyl liner pool?
Answer: You should never totally empty any vinyl liner swimming pool. No matter how many leaves or how green the water is in the pool, it is dangerous to totally empty your pool. Never expose the bottom(floor) of the vinyl liner to direct sunlight.
Question: I just took my pool cover off and the water is dark green, what do I do?
Answer: Get the filter running. Any type filter is going to clog up quickly. Be prepared to backwash a lot. Take any leaves out of the pool. You can do this with your vac pole and leaf rake (a net will work but it will take much longer). Once the leaves are out and the filter is running, add one gallon of liquid shock per 10,000 gallons of pool water (look further down on this page for a chart to figuer our pool gallonage). Let the filter run and keep backwashing. The filter is doing it's job if you backwash a lot. We suggest adding liquid shock to the pool every day until the water clears. It should take no more than 3 days. If your doing all the above and your filter does not need to be backwashed you have a problem with your filter. If your filter is DE, make sure you add DE each time you backwash. Once the water is clear, balance the PH,
Alkalinity and start adding sanitizer (chlorine, Bromine, etc).
Question: How often do I need to test my Swimming Pool water?
Answer: At least once a week. Preferably the same day each week. Take your water sample away from skimmers and returns and any floating chemical feeders. Alway test before adding any chemicals to the pool.
Question: My eyes burn, is it the chlorine.
Answer: Most often it is the Ph of your pool water. Ph that is too high or low will irritate your eyes.
Question: How often should I shock my pool?
Answer: If you are using chlorine, you should shock once per week during hot summer months, less in cooler months. If you have a big party or lots of bathers, you may need to shock more often. Talk to your pool professional if you are having problems.
Question: Are there other products on the market that do not have chlorine in them?

Question: When should I summerize my pool for the summer?
Answer: This question really doesn't have a pat answer. Some people can't wait to get the cover off and welcome spring and others like to wait until all pollen and seeds have fallen from the trees. Just one thing to remember, if you wait too long the water developes algae and turns green.
Question: Do you open pools for the summer and close them for the winter?
Answer: Yes. Call for rates and details. 631 243-3646
Question: I called for service on my swimming pool, but was told I have to wait. Why is that?
Answer: The swimming pool business in the Northeast is unique. It is a bit like retail stores during the Christmas time rush. There are tens of thousand of swimming pools on Long Island and almost all of them are being opened from May 15th - July 4th. We can provided quality service to just so many people per day. Our advise to our customers. Schedule your pool opening or service calls any time after Feb 1. The earlier the better.
It dosen't cost anything to schedule and at that time of the year you can pretty much pick any date you want. Believe it or not we have some savy customers who schedule their opening the same time they schedule their closing and visa versa. Really the best way to do it.
